Dr. Kristie A. Thomas

Dr. Kristie A. Thomas is an Associate Professor at Simmons College School of Social Work. She has over 15 years of experience as an educator, researcher, and social work practitioner in the field of intimate partner violence. She is committed to conducting community–based research that tends to the real-world issues facing people affected by intimate partner violence – particularly those who are economically and socially marginalized.

This commitment stems from her own personal history of intergenerational trauma and her social work practice experiences, including as a case manager in domestic violence shelters, a community organizer on issues of affordable housing, and a research consultant for the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women. Dr. Thomas is a founding member of the Domestic Violence Program Evaluation and Research Collaborative.
